The Law “On the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on November 18, 1991 at the eighth session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The symbolism of the State flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues the best traditions inherent in the flags of powerful powers that existed on the territory of our country, at the same time reflects the natural features of the republic, the national and cultural identity of the people.

Sky blue on the flag is a symbol of blue sky and clear water. The azure color is revered in the East; the great Amir Temur once chose it for his flag.

White color is a symbol of peace and purity. A young independent state must overcome high passes on its way. The white color on the flag means a good wish that the path is clean and bright.

Green color is the personification of blessed nature. Currently, the movement to protect the environment is expanding around the world, the symbol of which is also the green color.

Red stripes are the life forces pulsating in every living creature, a symbol of life.

The crescent corresponds to the centuries-old tradition of the people of Uzbekistan. The crescent and stars are a symbol of the cloudless sky of the world. Our flag has 12 stars. The number 12 is considered a mark of excellence.
